Travis C. Rudd, DDS

Dr Travis Rudd

Hello friends!  I am Dr. Rudd. Private practice in Albuquerque since 2013 has truly been a joy for me.  My goal is to have the best oral and maxillofacial practice in the state.  For me, that means that we need to have a wonderful team, the most advanced technology, and take really good care of our patients and referring doctors.  We also give back to the community through our volunteer efforts.

Laura and I have been married since 2009.  We have five children.  You’re most likely to run into us on a trail hiking, watching movies, traveling, enjoying church service, or spending time with our gaggle of children.  Laura supports my other interests which include being a shamelessly goofy dad and cycling.

My guilty pleasures:  Being in bed by 9:00pm, Super Nintendo, Wild Cherry Pepsi

Now onto credentials and other nap-worthy details:

Dr. Rudd is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS).  He is credentialed as an oral/facial surgeon with two major hospital systems in Albuquerque.  Dr. Rudd has served as President of the New Mexico Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Society.

In 2008, Dr. Rudd graduated with honors from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.  The Academy of Osseointegration named him the Outstanding Dental Student in Implant Dentistry upon graduation.  After a year of training at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, four rigorous years of oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Denver Health Hospital were completed.

His special interests include wisdom tooth surgery, bone grafting and dental implants, IV sedation, oral pathology, and facial trauma.  He is proud to take part in Donated Dental services and volunteers at the Mission of Mercy.  Dr. Rudd, who is fluent in Spanish, regularly participates in humanitarian oral surgery trips in Central America. Health Volunteers Overseas has had Dr. Rudd serving as their oral and maxillofacial surgery representative for international humanitarian efforts since 2017.

In 2021, Dr. Rudd’s dental colleagues voted him the best Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the city in Albuquerque the magazine.

I wanted to be a dentist because I was inspired by my orthodontist when I was in college to look into a field that was service-oriented and we had an opportunity to work with, you know, a variety of different people. And at the same time, I was starting to get very interested in my science classes at the University. And so that combination of being able to utilize science in anatomy and physiology, along with kind of the service element of working with people and for people and improving their lives was kind of a magic combination. What I enjoy about being an oral and maxillofacial surgeon is that I get to come to work and do something that I genuinely love every day. I really enjoy interacting with my coworkers. I enjoy getting to meet new people and work on different challenges related to their oral health needs. And doing surgery every day...It's fun! My wife thinks I'm crazy. I enjoy coming to work. I look forward to going to work in the morning. My favorite part about being with patients is, honestly, I just enjoy getting to know them. We we get to treat a wide variety of ages in our field, so we get to treat children, we get to treat adolescents, we get to treat adults. I love hearing a little bit about people's story. Patient care, for me, means that I have created an experience that would make my own family be proud of what I have done. If I do a great job on a surgery, but the patient can have a great experience with the staff, then we have something that we need to work on. Or if a patient had a really good experience with the staff and they didn't feel like they got a great surgical experience... You know, it's my duty to become better. So we do really try to seriously listen to feedback, whether it's good or bad and become better at what we do as a result of it. And that's what I would want my own family to do is to come in and be very frank about their experience. And, you know, if I feel like I can make my own immediate family and distant family feel like this is a top notch place, then I want to reproduce that for all of the patients.
